This weekend was my daughters FIRST Birthday! So exciting! I have been planning and anticipating this party for a while now. You never quite understand how time-consuming (planning and decorating) birthday parties actually are until you’re a parent. I have a sense of relief that it’s over, but I’m also a little sad because that means my wittle babies are growing up. After this weekend, I definitely have a new respect for my parents for throwing me the best parties for all those years.
We held the party at our house. We opted for a monkey theme, because well, monkeys are super cute. A few things didn’t quite go as planned, but that will be expected when you’re dealing with one year olds. We definitely didn’t anticipate our whole family coming down with the most awful colds only a day before the party. One of my daughters didn’t want any part of smashing her cake and the other one was having the best day of her life! Overall, we had a wonderful time with great guests! I’m so thankful to have this memory for the rest of my life. Here are some snapshots from the party:
The next day– 2nd attempt at eating her cake and she loved every bit of it. Success!
Happy 1st Birthday to the greatest little gifts, ever!

AWWWWW!!!! THey are just beautiful like their mama! So wish I could have been there to celebrate. Is that Ella crying and not enjoying her cake? I’m pretty sure I can still tell them apart….
Thank you!!! I wish you could have been here too! Maybe their next one!
Yes, it’s Ella! She had a fit, but she also wasn’t feeling well. Olivia had no problem feeding her face with cake in front of 50+ people. Loved it!!!
Oh, little dumplings. Love them.
This just in: you officially have the cutest kids in the blogosphere. I’m not kidding! I’ve seen a lot of babies on a lot blogs, and your twin girls are THE MOST DARLING. Not that it’s a competition
But seriously. If it was, your girls would win, Rachel! I just want to squeeze those adorably chubby cheeks!
Hahaha, thanks Jorie! This was the first thing I saw this morning and totally made me smile. I love to pinch their juicy little cheeks!!!!
LOVE everything!! Great job decorating and the cakes look amazing! The girls look adorable and you and Nick look fab! It looks like such a fun day. I’m looking forward to Kenley’s party, but not wishing the next couple months away, that’s for sure! Great job mama!
Haha, I don’t know how I landed here but I have spent the last half an hour (and it’s 1 am here) going through your wonderful blog. I love it that it’s not *just* a beauty blog! Will come back to read more.
Also, your twins are adorable! I really love the cake-eating pictures. So cute!
