Beauty Inspiration: Emily Maynard’s Beauty Secrets

Everyone who knows me knows that I’m obsessed with The Bachelorette, The Bachelor, The Kardashians, the list goes on. You’ll  hardly ever catch me watching anything that isn’t reality television. In my house, Monday nights are like the new-age Saturday. They’re filled with excitement! As my fellow Bachelorette fans know, the season finale was on last night. I felt very ambivalent about who I wanted to win because I loved both Arie & Jef! I’m sure the women of America are not complaining that she chose Jef because Arie is now fair game. (Indianapolis ladies, he’s in town often for racing. I hear you can find him out and about in Broadripple!)

This season of The Bachelorette has been my favorite by far because I absolutely love Emily Maynard! Not only is she drop dead gorgeous with her southern flair, she seems to be genuinely sweet with a good heart. She has fabulous fashion sense and her makeup always looks flawless. After much internet research from various sources such as Emily’s Twitter and the fashion blog, Possessionista, I saved you all some time and did the stalking research for you. Here is a list I’ve compiled of some of Emily’s favorite beauty items and secrets. Now we can all emulate away. Enjoy!

  1. Love love love this post!!!!! I own Essie Fiji and Ballet Slippers (wearing Ballet Slippers today actually!). I want to smell that Kai perfume. I’ve heard of it before and it sounds amazing.

    • I know, I’m dying to smell the Kai Perfume! I don’t know who carries it though! I saw your nails on Instagram and they look amazing! I wish I was that talented on my own nails. I’m horrible. I end up with more nail polish on my cuticles than my nails!

      • I love and wear Kai, and it smells UH-mazing! It’s tropical smelling (gardenia, tuberose, etc) but it’s really light, not overly in your face, which is why I love it. As far as buying it goes, I always see it at boutique clothing stores and sometimes spas; use this link to find out where you can buy it in your home states: http://kaifragrance.com/shop.html

      • Thanks, Kate!! I’m so glad to hear from someone who wears the fragrance! It sounds delightful. Thanks for sharing that link too! Would you say the fragrance stays with you for awhile after you spray it on?

      • I use the body glow, which is an oil based spray and my experience is that it does not stick with me for very long. I’d like to try the perfume to see if it sticks longer :)

      • Hopefully the perfume scent lingers longer. I can’t wait to try it! I found a nearby boutique on the locator that carries it!

  2. I really liked Emily Maynard as the Bachelorette, and I’m so glad she chose Jef :) She is gorgeous and her skin is usually so flawless. I’ve heard that the airbrush foundation kit is a good investment!

    • Hey Jorie!
I was happy she chose Jef too! I think he’s really handsome. The airbrush kit is a good investment. The only downfall with airbrush makeup is that most of it is water-based so if you’re going to sweat or get caught in the rain, it’s not a great idea. Otherwise, I love it!!

  3. I have been wondering about the Wen haircare products… does anyone here use them and if so, provide some feedback? I have course and sometimes frizzy hair, especially when it’s humid. Thanx!

    • Hi Lynne,
I personally have not tried it yet, but I’m dying to! I have friends who use it and say it works miracles. One of them has coarse, frizzy hair too and her hair looks much smoother now!

      • Here I am again! I used Wen for a long time, and loved it. I was blow drying my hair everyday, and yet, my hair was still really smooth and undamaged. I definitely recommend it and say these few things about it: use more than you think you need, starting at your scalp. Once your hair is covered, add a little water to your hands and massage your scalp to loosen the oils. It won’t ever lather like a soap, but it will help you massage it into your hair. Leave it on until the end of your shower, then rinse. The only reason I stopped using it was the $30 price tag; I couldn’t swing that in college, but really, it’s great stuff. I’d use it again.

      • Kate, couldn’t figure out how to reply below your comment so I’m doing it above! Thanks for those tips. I wonder if something I found recently would be as good for you – it’s cheaper although you might want to use a conditioner too depending on your hair. I found this product at Walgreens (they also have it at Target) and it’s called Shea Moisture – it’s in the ethnic section which for some reason I thought to look there one day. The one I got was for dry/damaged hair. The shampoo sounds like what you described – no lather and they don’t have any of the bad stuff. I’ve also been using the conditioner that goes with it, but not every day to avoid over conditioning. Might be a good alternative, I think it’s around $10 for a decent sized bottle. Not sure if it’s as good as Wen but it has helped my hair quite a bit.

    • Dee

I have been using Wen for a couple of years. It’s really great. My hair has never been softer. I tend to have coarse hair. With Wen, my hair has more curl and is silky and soft. I’ll never use regular shampoo again. You can get it at qvc.com for better prices than from Wen directly. :)

    • Hi Lynne! I have used Wen. I used it for over a year and really loved it. They have different formulas for each hair type. I switched recently to John Frieda sheer blonde shampoo and conditioner just because I did not feel like the Wen was doing enough to enhance my blonde hair color. But my hair feels amazing when I do use it. One other thing is they claim you don’t ever need to use shampoo again if using the Wen but I felt like I needed to use a clarifying shampoo once a week to get rid of product build up that the Wen does not get rid of. Sorry for the long answer! hope that helps!

      • Thanks Arantha… that does help. I can see how the build up might be an issues. I like to switch products every so often anyway because of that.

  4. I’ve never seen The Bachelorette as I don’t live in the US, but I’m really enjoying Emily’s outfits and beauty secrets. Is it worth trying to track the program down?!

  5. Awesome post Rachel! I LOVE the Bachelor/Bachelorette series and Emily was by far my favorite Bachelorette. I must admit that during the first few episodes, I never would have considered Jef as a frontrunner, but as time went on I realized he truly was the perfect pick for her. I have used the Temptu airbrush system before and it is a great product. That explains Emily’s flawless complexion! She is beautiful. :)

  6. Bernadette

    I’m a Kai wearer…love it!!!

  7. jenny

do you know what makeup she uses on her eyes? They always look so gorgeous!
